MINNEAPOLIS, MN, November 07, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Why should swimmers have to choose between durability, comfort, racing performance, and added protection?
In “The Story Behind Hammer Head Swim Caps,” Finn explains how head-impact incidents involving her son, her business partner’s daughter, and other swimmers inspired the world’s first patented protective swim cap.
“We did not set out simply to improve the swim cap,” said Finn. “We set out to address an overlooked gap in athlete safety and make head safety a natural part of every aquatic sport.”
Building the Aquatic Sports Safety Category
Football has Riddell. Cycling has Giro. Hockey has Bauer. These companies are recognized for advancing athlete protection. Aquatic sports have never had a comparable company focused specifically on head safety.
Hammer Head intends to fill that gap through innovation, education, research, advocacy, and collaboration with athletes, coaches, sports organizations, and national governing bodies.
Accidental impacts occur above and below the water—from backstroke wall strikes and crowded lanes to open-water mass starts, buoy turns and blows to the head in water polo and artistic swimming. Hammer Head is expanding the traditional swim cap from hair management to swimmer-specific personal protective equipment.
Everything a Swim Cap Should Be
Hammer Head combines five benefits in one patented design: added protection, comfort, speed, durability, and confidence. Its seamless, one-piece silicone construction is backed by a 1-Year No-Tear Guarantee.
Independent testing found that Hammer Head reduced impact force by more than 50% compared with tested traditional silicone and dome-style caps. Separate testing found that its wrinkle-resistant exterior reduced frontal drag by up to 10.5%.
Hammer Head® is a sports safety company specializing in aquatic sports and working to make head safety a greater priority throughout the water.
