The 2024 Joan Bavaria Award will recognize an investor or non-profit leader who is working to transform the capital markets into a system that balances economic prosperity with social and environmental concerns
WASHINGTON, DC / BOSTON, MA, February 14, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ — US SIF and Trillium Asset Management are seeking nominations for the 2024 Joan Bavaria Award, which will recognize an investor or non-profit leader who is working to transform the capital markets into a system that balances economic prosperity with social and environmental concerns.
A pioneer of socially responsible investing, Joan Bavaria’s vision and humanity helped catalyze positive change in the capital markets. She is often referred to as the “Founding Mother” of Socially Responsible Investing. Joan died in 2008, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
In 1981, Joan co-founded US SIF, a non-profit membership organization which works to shift investment practices towards sustainability, focusing on long-term investment and the generation of positive social and environmental impacts.
Joan founded Trillium Asset Management in 1982. It was one of the first investment firms solely focused on sustainable and responsible investing.
The Joan Bavaria Award was created in 2008 by Trillium Asset Management and Ceres to carry on Joan’s legacy by honoring other sustainability heroes across the planet. The 2024 Joan Bavaria Award will be presented at the 2024 US SIF FORUM being held June 24-26 in Chicago, IL.
To be considered for the Joan Bavaria Award, nominees must have experience in the investment industry or the NGO / Non-Profit community and share the spirit of collaboration and coalition building demonstrated by Joan Bavaria and the organizations she founded.
The judges for the 2024 Joan Bavaria Award are Maria Lettini, CEO of US SIF, Matthew Patsky, CEO of Trillium Asset Management and Mindy Lubber, CEO and President of Ceres.
Nominations, including self-nominations, for the Award are being accepted through March 8, 2024, at www.trilliuminvest.com/joanbavaria and www.ussif.org/joanbavaria.
