On his latest single, “Padrino Mio,” Miami-based songwriter and producer Mantequilla uses upbeat tropical rhythms to explore the special relationship between a Godparent and Godchild.

Padrino Mio shares that special relationship between a Godparent and Godchild, or any special relationship where one is led and helped by someone other than their birth parent/guardian. An ode to all those who guide us through their love and friendship.
“I wanted to find a special way to thank my Godfather for all the support he has given me particularly in our shared love of music” stated Mantequilla when giving background on the his inspiration for the new track.
He continues “The difficult past of Cuba makes much of the music tradition one of tribal knowledge passed down from generation to generation. My Padrino, provided me with my audio encyclopedia on the tradition of Cuban music, particularly the era of Son, Charanga, and the traditional Conjuntos that really shaped today’s modern tropical music.”
