High school seniors and college students have until April 5, 2019, to submit essays.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY, March 30, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ — Learning how to deal with injuries ─ whether minor or severe ─ is a part of growing up. The Law Office of Cohen & Jaffe, LLP, is encouraging high school and college students to share their experiences and perspectives on personal injuries in its annual scholarship contest. The top five essay writers will earn a total of $2,250 toward college tuition and related expenses.

Graduating high school students and current college students in the U.S. can compete for the scholarships by submitting a one-page essay of no less than 500 and no more than 750 words on one of the following topics:

• How has your life been impacted by an injury that was caused by someone else’s negligence? What did you learn from it and how did it help you grow?
• Do you think there is enough emphasis on safety in sports to prevent concussions? What do you think we should do to curb concussions in high school athletics?
• With widespread knowledge of the dangers of drinking and driving, why do you think people continue to drink and drive? What initiatives could be executed to address those reasons?

The deadline to submit essays is April 5, 2019. Students must submit their essays in .pdf, .doc or .docx format to the attention of Richard Jaffe via email to [email protected]. Submissions should also include personal contact information, school contact information, a short paragraph bio, an official copy of the student’s current transcript, proof of legal U.S. residency, and proof of acceptance to an institute of higher learning.

The top 10 essays will then be selected by the firm, and the public will have until May 28, 2019, to vote on the best essays. The winning students will be notified by June 7, 2019, with the first-place winner receiving a $1,000 scholarship. The firm will also award a $500 scholarship to the runner-up and three $250 scholarships for honorable mention.
