Cory Watson Attorneys has filed its first lawsuit on behalf of local businesses affected by the recent train derailment.

BIRMINGHAM, AL, March 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Cory Watson Attorneys, a leading personal injury law firm, has filed its first lawsuit on behalf of local businesses affected by the recent train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The lawsuit was filed on March 15, 2023, on behalf of CeramFab, CeramSource, and WYG Refractories, three local companies with shared ownership that have been severely impacted by the derailment.

The Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed on February 3, 2023, causing significant damage to the local community. The contamination from the derailment has resulted in the loss of millions of dollars in revenue for these businesses, which have been forced to halt their operations entirely.

According to Cory Watson attorney Jon C. Conlin, this lawsuit is the first to be filed on behalf of individuals or businesses affected by the derailment – rather than a large class action case purporting to cover tens of thousands of people living or working in the area.

The lawsuit alleges that the businesses’ properties were contaminated by several toxic chemicals not previously listed in other complaints. As a result, the businesses require substantial remediation work before they can resume their operations in East Palestine, if such a return is possible.

“Our attorneys at Cory Watson are committed to fighting for the rights of the individuals, businesses, and property owners affected by the derailment,” said Mr. Conlin. “We are prepared to file additional lawsuits on behalf of those with similarly unique circumstances, and we will continue to seek justice for our clients.”
