Partnerships to advance circular economy initiatives in communities across the Global South
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, December 14, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — ClearSky 2100 Ventures today announced a new partnership with Provectus Enterprising to develop circular economy initiatives in megacities across the Global South.
The team at ClearSky 2100 will evaluate opportunities to integrate Provectus organic waste technologies into micro-infrastructure hubs being developed by ClearSky 2100. Provectus will also support ClearSky 2100 in developing multi-stakeholder community engagement and green citizenship models and programs in the markets where the hubs will be deployed. The companies will deploy these hubs across South, and Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, with several pilot projects expected to commence in 2023.
“More than 68% of the world’s population is expected to live in cities by 2050, necessitating the development of urban-based solutions to strengthen climate resilience, particularly in the highly-dense urban environments of the Global South,” says James Harris, Founder at ClearSky 2100 Ventures. “There is no shortage of solutions seeking to address climate change and other environmental challenges. However, we believe that a “smaller is better” approach will be more effective in scaling with highly inclusive stakeholder models. Our micro-infrastructure solutions at the neighborhood levels incorporating innovations such as Blockchain for Good and micro renewables, etc., will become an important solution as hyper-urbanization, waste, and other environmental challenges envelop these communities in the coming decades.”
“Landfill stress, water security, and food security are major challenges facing many current and emerging megacities in the Global South,” says Zack Abdi, CEO of Toronto-based Provectus Enterprising. “We are excited to partner with ClearSky 2100 in developing these sustainability hubs to address multiple SDGs with urban-based solutions for these communities. The unique features of our waste technologies integrate well into the ClearSky 2100 hub model. These hubs will allow communities to strengthen circular economy initiatives supporting more sustainable cities.
