Amer Abdallah’s Open Letter to Boxing’s Next Generation of International Talent

LAS VEGAS, NV, October 21, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ — Boxing no longer lives in one country or one time zone. Fighters now build careers that move through the United States, the UK, the Middle East, Africa and everywhere in between inside a single year. Amer Abdallah, President of MF Pro Boxing and Global Boxing Advisor, has spent more than three decades on both sides of that shift, first as an undefeated professional kickboxer and later as a manager, promoter, and executive working across these same markets.

This letter is addressed to the fighters, managers, and young promoters trying to find their footing in that wider game.

You Are Entering a Business, Not Just a Ring

Every fighter trains for the opponent in front of them. Fewer train for the contracts, sanctioning bodies, and promotional structures that decide whether that fight even happens on fair terms.

Abdallah built his own career the opposite way. He promoted his own fights through Lace Up Promotions while he was still competing, retiring in 2018 with an 18-0 record and a WKA Cruiserweight World Championship to his name. That dual experience, fighter and promoter at once, shaped how he now talks to athletes about the business side of the sport.

“A fighter who understands the business behind the fight has more control over his own career,” Abdallah said. “That understanding does not come from one conversation. It comes from paying attention long before you need it. I’ve always said this is a business disguised as a sport, and the remains true in every facet of a fighters career.”

Representation Has to Outlast a Single Fight

Abdallah’s work managing three-division world champion Badou Jack gave him a close view of what representation looks like when it is built for the long run rather than one payday. The same applies to his work with fighters like Nico Ali Walsh and his relationships across the careers of Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr., Viddal Riley, KSI and Caleb Plant.

“A single fight can change a career,” Abdallah said. “But the relationships and the planning around it are what make the next ten fights possible.”

Young fighters often sign the first offer they see without asking whether it fits where they want to be in five years. In his professional debut, Abdallah earned $250. Abdallah’s advice to them is simple: a manager’s job is not to get you a fight. It is to get you a career and guide you through it.

New Markets Reward Preparation, Not Just Talent

Boxing’s center of gravity has shifted toward the Middle East in recent years. Abdallah has worked on major boxing initiatives in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Libya, and the UAE, including an executive role with Skill Challenge Entertainment during a period of rapid growth for the sport in the region.

That experience taught him a lesson he repeats to fighters and promoters looking to work internationally for the first time: these markets are not an extension of American boxing with a different backdrop. They have their own expectations, their own stakeholders, and their own pace.

“Opportunity in a new market goes to the people who understand how that market actually works.” Abdallah said. “Not to the people who assume throwing money at it will build it.”

What Abdallah Asks of the Next Generation

Abdallah’s message to fighters entering boxing comes down to three habits he says matter more than talent alone:

Learn the business of boxing. It differs from the sport.

Carefully choose representation built around your full career and what you want in the end. And question EVERYTHING.

Nothing replaces the work you do in the gym, stay disciplined and focused in between fights.

Amer Abdallah is a Global Boxing Advisor, President of MF Pro Boxing based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
